A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) removes excess abdominal skin and repairs the separation of the rectus muscles (diastasis) left by pregnancies or major weight loss. Combined with liposculpture and breast surgery in a single operation, it is known as a mommy makeover.
It is not a weight-loss surgery: it is meant to restore the abdominal wall when skin and muscle no longer respond to diet or exercise. The scar is planned low, so it stays hidden under underwear, and the navel is repositioned naturally.
In the mommy makeover, Dr. Yolotzin integrates a tummy tuck, Vaser liposculpture and, when applicable, breast augmentation, lift or reduction. Doing it all at once reduces anesthesia and recovery time, as long as the assessment confirms it is safe for you.

General information so you arrive at your consultation with the right questions. Your plan is defined at your consultation.
Technique
Low hip-to-hip incision, planned to sit under underwear.
Plication of the rectus muscles to close the diastasis and restore the abdominal wall.
Removal of excess skin, repositioning of the navel and liposculpture of the flanks for a defined waist.
In a mommy makeover, breast surgery is added in the same operation.
Aftercare
Abdominal binder for 6 weeks and walking slightly bent forward during the first week.
Drains for 5 to 7 days and lymphatic drainage afterwards.
No lifting more than 5 kg (about 11 lb) and no abdominal exercises for the first month and a half.
Results and how long they last
Flat abdomen and visible waist from the first month; the final result, with the scar matured, shows at one year.
Risks and how we reduce them
Seroma, delayed healing along the midline, blood clots (prevented with compression stockings, early walking and, if applicable, anticoagulants) and a long but hidden scar.
