Thigh and Arm Lift

When there is significant excess skin, energy alone is not enough: brachioplasty (arm lift) and thigh lift remove the surplus skin and reposition the tissues for a firm contour.

Thigh and Arm Lift: Removal of excess skin after weight loss

How it works

This is a common surgery after significant weight loss or bariatric surgery. The scar placement (inner arm or inner thigh) is designed to stay hidden with the arms at rest or under underwear.

It can be combined with liposculpture to improve the contour and, in cases of mild laxity, replaced with Renuvion or BodyTite.

Is it for me?

  • Hanging skin on the arms or inner thighs.
  • After significant weight loss.
  • Anyone who has already tried exercise and non-invasive treatments without change.

What you should know

How it's done, how to care for it and what to expect.

General information so you arrive at your consultation with the right questions. Your plan is defined at your consultation.

Technique

  • Brachioplasty: incision on the inner arm, from armpit to elbow, hidden with the arm against the body.
  • Thigh lift: incision in the groin crease or along the inner thigh depending on the excess skin.
  • Liposculpture beforehand to slim the area and help the skin retract.

Aftercare

  • Compression garment for 4 weeks.
  • Keep arms or legs elevated during the first days to reduce swelling.
  • No wide stretches or lifting weight during the first month.

Results and how long they last

The change in contour is immediate; the scar takes up to 12 months to fade. Recommended once your weight has been stable for at least 6 months.

Risks and how we reduce them

Long scars, possible seromas and delayed healing in areas under tension. It is the surgery with the best benefit-to-scar ratio when the excess skin is significant.
