Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty adjusts the shape of the nose (bridge, tip, width) to balance it with the rest of the face, while also addressing breathing when there is a deviated septum.

Rhinoplasty: Nasal harmony without losing breathing function

How it works

Each nose is planned with the whole face in mind: profile, chin, proportions. The goal is not a "catalog" nose, but one that looks as if it had always been there. Preservation techniques allow more natural results and less swelling.

When there is airway obstruction, it is corrected in the same procedure (rhinoseptoplasty). In consultation we review your anatomy, talk honestly about what is possible and define the plan.

Is it for me?

  • Anyone who wants to change the profile, tip or width of their nose.
  • People who have trouble breathing because of a deviated septum.
  • Ages 16 to 18 and older, once facial development is complete.

What you should know

General information so you arrive at your consultation with the right questions. Your plan is defined at your consultation.

Technique

  • Preservation rhinoplasty when the anatomy allows it: the bridge is preserved and repositioned, with less swelling.
  • Closed or open approach depending on the complexity of the tip.
  • Septum correction (septoplasty) in the same operation if there is obstruction.

Aftercare

  • External splint for 7 days and saline nasal rinses.
  • Sleep semi-upright; no nose blowing for 2 weeks.
  • No glasses resting on the bridge for 6 weeks; sun protection for one year to prevent dark spots.

Results and how long they last

Breathing improves as soon as the packing is removed. The shape takes definition at the third month and the tip finishes settling at one year.

Risks and how we reduce them

Bleeding, mild asymmetry and the need for a touch-up in a small percentage of cases. Realistic expectations are key: the goal is a nose that fits your face.

Step by step

Recovery roadmap: Rhinoplasty

  1. Resting at home on day one
    Day 1

Nasal splint and internal packing for the first 24 to 48 hours; sleep semi-upright.

  2. Short walks during the first week
    Week 1

Splint removed; bruising and swelling going down. You can go out.

  3. Gentle exercise at one month
    Month 1

Back to light exercise; avoid glasses resting on the bridge and any bumps.

  4. Results settling in at three months
    Month 3

The shape takes definition; the tip takes up to 12 months to fully settle.

Approximate timelines. Your exact roadmap depends on your case, the technique and how your body heals. Results vary.
