Breast Augmentation: Implants or your own fat, with proportion as the goal

How it works

With a specialization in breast surgery (mastology) completed in Rio de Janeiro, Dr. Yolotzin approaches the breast from both health and aesthetics: implants with current certifications are selected, the incision approach is planned for the least visible scar, and compatibility with future studies such as mammograms is taken into account.

In cases of asymmetry, tuberous breasts or mild sagging, augmentation is combined with a breast lift (mastopexy) for a balanced result.

Is it for me?

  • Anyone who wants more volume or a better shape.
  • Asymmetry or loss of volume after pregnancy or weight loss.
  • Anyone who prefers their own fat and has donor areas.

What you should know

How it's done, how to care for it and what to expect.

General information so you arrive at your consultation with the right questions. Your plan is defined at your consultation.

Technique

  • Joint selection of the implant (volume, profile, shape) with sizers tried on in consultation.
  • Incision in the inframammary fold, around the areola or in the armpit depending on anatomy and preference.
  • Submuscular, subglandular or dual-plane pocket; decided by tissue thickness and the result sought.
  • Alternative with your own fat (lipofilling) for very natural, moderate augmentation.

Aftercare

  • Post-surgical bra day and night for 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Massage or mobility exercises only if the doctor indicates them for your type of implant.
  • No lifting heavy objects or chest exercise during the first month.
  • Yearly check-up and periodic ultrasound or MRI to monitor the implants.

Results and how long they last

The implants sit high during the first weeks and settle between the second and third month. Modern implants do not expire, but they are checked every year.

Risks and how we reduce them

Capsular contracture, rupture, changes in nipple sensation and asymmetry are the best-known risks. They are explained with their actual percentages before you decide.

Step by step

Recovery roadmap: Breast Augmentation

  1. Resting at home on day one
    Day 1

Post-surgical bra; feeling of tightness managed with medication.

  2. Short walks during the first week
    Week 1

Back to activities that don't strain the arms; first follow-up visit.

  3. Gentle exercise at one month
    Month 1

The implants begin to settle; leg exercise allowed.

  4. Results settling in at three months
    Month 3

Shape and position close to the final result; scars maturing.

Approximate timelines. Your exact roadmap depends on your case, the technique and how your body heals. Results vary.
